Sampler: Done!

There's nothing like sunny weekend at the cottage to get me going with a hand sewing project.  On labour day weekend while the kids and hubby swam, fished and kayaked in and around the lake, I had time to put the last stitches on my sampler quilt (previous post here).

This quilt was made completely by hand with no fancy tools, just like I learned to make my first quilt about 11 years ago. I used the original templates and each and every piece was cut with scissors. The patterns are very traditional.  I 'made it modern' with my choice of fabrics. I quilted it by hand without a hoop (just pin basted it).  I find it to be more efficient this way.  No need to move/remove the hoop. I kept it simple and just 'stitched in the ditch'.

It was a truly pleasurable experience to make. This one's going to my mother.

  2. It is so pretty and has so many hours of work. It is clear you enjoyed the journey making this quilt as much as you like the finished item.
