Project Improv.

After finishing my Equilibrium quilt, which was very geometric and precise, I was in the mood for something different.
Inspired by the color scheme on this shopping bag,

I set to work on an improv quilt.
I used inspiration from a this quilt, which I made for my son just over a year ago.

This time, however, I did not use a ruler to cut the strips.  Just my rotary cutter.
This resulted in a much more organic collection of strips.
As with my son's quilt, I made 3 blocks per row, using about 15 strips per block.
I added a little twist to one row...

and another...
For the back of the quilt, I'm thinking of using just the hot pink.  The question that remains is: what color thread should I use?
I made a sample and tested some pink thread.

And then tested a soft gray:
This is what it looks like in the back:

Which color thread do you vote for?

  1. Nice quilt top. I love the little touch of pink in the piecing. Maybe grey and a little touch of pink in the quilting too.

  3. Fun quilt! If I were picking the thread I'd choose the grey, leaving just that pop of bright pink with the fabric you have incorporated so nicely into the quilt.
