I made 8 more blocks for my orange and white quilt (previous post here)and played around with the arrangement.
This was my original idea:
I think it would need an orange binding or maybe an orange border?
Here's what it looks like if I shift the center row over to the right:
And turned clockwise 180 degrees:
Of course I would have to add some half blocks to the ends to finish off the top.
What do you think of this quilt so far? Which arrangement do you prefer?

I love it. My preference is for the final layout. The top photo is lovely too and you really can't go wrong, but I think you see that square-with-a-square effect--made in different ways -- rather frequently and to me the bottom layout is more unique, interesting and compelling .
ReplyDeleteWow, the orange and white really pops! I do like the first version, but it ends up just looking like a square in a square with sashing. Although I do like square in a square quilts, I think either of the bottom two are more interesting.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to seeing what you decide.
This is looking great so far! I agree that the bottom layouts seem a bit more interesting and make better use of the blocks. Can't wait to see it finished!
