Shopping from The Heart

On Thursday,  May 12, I will be taking part in a special evening showcasing local mom entrepreneurs.  Shopping From The Heart was conceived in an effort to give local business women a chance to network and to market their businesses while at the same time raising money for a great cause.  Be sure to check out their blog for detailed information about the event.

Sherbet Crosses

Inspired by this quilt, I decided it was time to cut into my stack of sherbet-colored fabrics.

I played around with the positioning of the crosses and I think I will settle on one of these two arrangements:

Can you tell the subtle difference between the two? The darkest orange in the second row and the darkest pink in the fourth row are in different positions in each arrangement. Which do you think I should go with? I'd appreciate your comments.

I've been featured! in the latest issue of Stitch magazine.
A pretty little apron that I designed is in the current issue.

It was my first try at getting published. I am thrilled with look of the spread. The colors are so refreshing as we are all yearning for some warm weather in here in Montreal.



The magazine is available on newstands now, so if you get your hands on one give the pattern a try. If you don't feel inclined to make one, you can purchase one from my Etsy Shop. It would make a great Mother's Day gift or a gift for a new bride. I will be posting more of them in the next couple of days, including a child size version of the apron!

The Blogger's Pillow Party.

Inspired by the coming (finally!)of real spring weather, I made this wonky log cabin pillow.  With the exception of the white fabric, I used only fabrics from my scrap pile. The colors were inspired by the two birds in the 'window'. 

I like the contrast of the two colorways-the cool side vs the warm side. I had only a general plan in mind when I started. I knew I wanted to make a wonky log cabin, so I just cut strips of fabric gradually increasing the width of each strip as I went along.

I think it looks right at home perched on a branch!

Another improv quilt

Just finished another improv quilt. It was easy to put together. I've been wanting to make a quilt that used mostly solids and just one large background color. The colors remind me of a cottage in the woods. 
To quilt it I chose to do some simle wavy lines. I got the idea from this quilt.  It was easy to do and I really like the effect.
